Encouraging Results from W6ELProp

This week I looked for for CRI broadcasts transmitted from foreign countries. This has been my most serious attempt at targeted listening to date and the first time I have ever gotten a useful result from a propagation program. My technique was to use short-wave.info to find the transmitter sites, frequencies, times, then W6ELprop to find the reciprocal antenna headings, then short-wave.info again to find transmissions throwing the most power in my general direction, and then W6ELprop again to find the most promising bands and times. In the long run this should be more productive than the casual band-scanning I have done since I was young.

9579 ALBANIA CRI at 0101 with recorded program "Welcome to The Beijing Hour coming to you from the nation's capital", Weather forecast by Jordan Lee, story about meeting between the Chinese leader and a delegation from Taiwan - Good Feb 19 Chapel-BC

9690 SPAIN CRI at 0308 with stories about Taiwan's anti-corruption work, protests in Bangkok, Libyan militia groups warning members of parliament to step down or face arrest, Iranian nuclear weapons talks - Fair Feb 19 Chapel-BC

13740 CUBA CRI at 1416 with story about taxes paid by retailers and manufacturers then around 1450 some entertaining M/F banter about M/F differences in image-driven consumer preferences - Fair Feb 19 Chapel-BC

I look forward to seeing how well this technique holds up for more challenging targets.
