That OS X Bootcamp installation of Windows 7 was too temperamental so I moved Win 7 back to an old Asus laptop and now have it dual booting with Linux Mint 16 as the primary OS. After these latest very hours of my life lost to Windows, I plan to stick with this configuration for a long time because it finally seems to work.
This time around I am using Mestor for scheduling rather than PRS and ToH. Mestor does crash whenever I use a bandwidth less than 800 kHz but it's nice to not need anything like com0com or VSPE.
