A recent comment on an earlier post got me thinking about other experiments I did with kits of parts from the American Basic Science Club so I opened up a box and extracted these items.
Unfortunately my set is not complete and I still use some of the parts. The stop bath tray came with the darkroom kit. That clunky metal box is the enlarger. The cardboard box on the left is the film holder for the microscope camera. Somewhere in this house is the first insect photo I took with it. The larger black object in the tray is the spectroscope. To this day, whenever I need to remember the range of wavelengths of visible light, my mind automatically goes back to that experiment. I don't think I ever photographed any emission lines with it but I probably could do that now with those parts plus some others not shown in the photo.
All kits are in good condition 2-8 weather station, analog computer, microscpy,I also have a Edmund scientific co. Optical glasses 10-15 pieces 1963, all kits are from around 1963, I also have 2 paperback books on inorganic chemistry 5,6 Herbert winkel B.S.,formulas 1941, logarithyms 1942, international correspondence schools Scranton. Pa, good shape, not sure what they are worth!? Make a offer, no reasonable offer refused! contact me at 604 814 2494
Very cool -- that's my first time seeing the "mystery box" in about 45 years.
ReplyDeleteI just checked out eBay and saw that a nearly complete set of unused ABSC kits sold for almost $800 in August. That's a 2000% return on investment!
I see from your "stop bath" that we had more than one hobby in common, or did that come with one of the later kits?
