Struggling with Perseus SDR and Bootcamp

Yesterday I almost got my neglected Perseus software defined receiver (SDR) working. Since it requires Windows but I no longer have a dedicated Windows computer and do not want to dual boot my heavily used Linux laptop, I used OS-X Bootcamp to install Windows 7 in a new Bootcamp partition on an old MacBook Pro. That worked reasonably well. Unlike with my previous attempts to get the Perseus working through an emulator, the radio starts and appears to have perfect functionality except for one important thing. No sound comes out of it. In fact, I cannot get any sound to come out of any Win7 program. After trying every fix I could find online, I have given up and plan to just take the Mac into my favourite Apple shop later today.
